Children and Youth

Graceland

Eastminster offers a welcoming and nurturing Playroom for toddlers and preschoolers and an engaging Sunday School program we call Graceland for children ages 4-12 during Sunday service. It is our hope that through regular participation in our children’s programs and the nurturing of faith at home, the message of Jesus will begin to influence young lives and give them a strong faith basis for the whole of life. Children are invited to participate in the beginning portion of worship and the programming begins after the children’s moment with Pastor David. Sherrie Tipper is the Coordinator of Children’s ministry and she can be reached at programs@eastminster.ca with any questions you may have and/or to discuss volunteer opportunities.

Family Events

From time to time we offer activities for young families such as a pre-Halloween party or a family Christmas concert.  Be sure to check our Events page from time to time for upcoming events.

Spark Youth Group

The SPARK Youth Group meets weekly on Monday evenings from 7 to 8:30pm. They meet mostly at the church but there are occasional outings as well. This group of vibrant, creative fun-loving youth (12 to 18 yrs of age) is an important part of our Community of Faith! We invite young people to be the church now not just for the future but in the present.

Spark provides a safe and accepting atmosphere to have fun, build relationships, a sense of self-worth, and to explore ideas, values, and faith within the context of a supportive community.  We want youth to feel connected to God, to each other, to our church community and to the community at large. Weekly meetings include art projects and games, food and a topical discussion/devotional. (The Grow Curriculum is being
used to guide discussions on topics such as friendships, family, identity, etc.) Some of the outings and special events this year will include a fall Corn Ma
ze, a Coffee House fundraiser, a winter youth retreat at Joy Camp (Bancroft), and our annual Maundy Thursday Lock-in at the church.  We encourage young people from the congregation and the community to join us, as well as youth from other faith communities.  For more information contact Anita Pordham

Youth Group Events

Eastminster tries to have an annual retreat for young people. This year we went for a Winter retreat at Joy Camp in Bancroft where the food and facilities were awesome. Our young people and those of Timothy Eaton Memorial Church in Toronto came together to experience the wonders of snow-shoeing, ice-skating, volley-ball, and night time tubing down a great hill. During free time, the young people chatted, sat around a wonderful fireplace, and played a variety of card games.  The spiritual sessions asked that we think about our personal impact on each other as we befriend, share our stories, and share our faith.

Everyone is eager to go back to Joy!
